Job Description Summary
The Accounts Payable Accountant is a key role in the AP department. The AP Accountant will be responsible for their assigned vendors (assigned by alphabet-active list currently over 600 vendors worldwide).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews and verifies the accuracy of invoice coding, account classifications, and journal entries; researches and resolves discrepancies based on review for assigned vendors
- Record recurring and non-recurring month end accounting journal entries and accruals provided by FP&A group
- Prepare detailed account analysis and maintain monthly reconciliations of all assigned balance sheet accounts
- Analyze and resolve discrepancies that arise during the reconciliation process
- Support FP&A and general accounting for specific reconciliations (accrued other, prepaid)
- Research and interpret data to resolve routine questions and problems. Refer more complex issues to Manager to minimize issues.
- Record monthly credit card transactions and complete reconciliation process
- Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
- Process accounts payable payments
- Respond to all vendor inquiries
- Prepare vendor list for 1099 processing
- Work with operations to ensure assigned vendors are set up with appropriate payment terms to support current cash forecast goals as provided by accounting manager
- Obtain credit reference information when requested
- Process check runs and check run tie out between 3rd party AP and ERP system
- Provide backup for AP accountant responsible for EE Expense reporting
- Assist with monthly closings
- Perform additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by Accounting Manager to support quarterly / year end audits
- Record monthly corporate credit card transactions and complete monthly reconciliation process
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or the equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training
- 3-5 years of Accountant experience preferably in a scientific and / or life science industry assignment. A manufacturing background is highly preferred.
- Must be highly proficient in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, etc.
- Basic accounting knowledge and understanding of GAAP
- Professional and high integrity standards
- Experience with accounting software if preferred
- Ability and desire to perform several tasks concurrently
- Must possess excellent critical thinking, problem solving skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
The hiring range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00 hourly, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
